It only takes one look at this Sigma DMC-15E to notice that it has an uncanny resemblance to models from Martin Guitars. That's not entirely surprising considering the close family ties at play here. Just like their American counterparts, Sigma Guitar models give away a lot of information in their model numbers. The letters 'DM' stand for Dreadnought Model while the C stands for Cutaway. Both Sigma and Martin indicate what the top is made of via the included number, which in this particular case means mahogany. You've probably already figured out what the 'E' stands for by now: electro-acoustic.

Warm & Rich Volume

Certain playing techniques, such as slide and finger-style, typically emphasize higher notes. Spruce-topped guitars, however, sometimes shape rather harsh trebles, which is the reason why Sigma have blessed the DMC-15E with a mahogany top. Mahogany is known for warmer sound characteristics that are perfect for so-called treble-heavy techniques. What's more, this electro-acoustic steel-string actually has a solid top to be able to deliver outstanding projection and full resonance. Further mounted with a high-quality Fishman Isys+ preamp and natural bone bridge saddle and string nut, it's difficult to argue that this Sigma guitar isn't all set in terms of hardware as well.

Sigma Guitars

In the 1970s, Martin Guitars launched a series of attractively-priced models under the name Sigma Guitars in order to compete with the growing number of cheaper models being produced in the Far East. Unfortunately, they stopped producing them in 2007 but a German company breathed new life into the name in 2011. With Martin Guitars' blessing, these models are now made in China. They're subject to strict quality controls and everything from the way they're made to the design of the headstock do the original models justice. In short, these acoustic guitars offer the same excellent value for money as the original models did. In the USA, these models are distributed by Martin under the name Kindred Guitars because they no longer hold rights to the Sigma Guitars name.
